Business Development Associate

Gabriel Akanbi is an agricultural development and project management professional with over eight years of experience delivering donor-funded and private-sector initiatives that strengthen agricultural value chains and empower smallholder farmers across Nigeria. He has worked with organisations including Farm Concern International under the Rockefeller Foundation, where he supported the scale-up of aggregation centres into Agri-Market Service Centres across North West Nigeria, with a strong focus on women and youth inclusion. At Zowasel, he coordinated projects funded by GIZ and Mercy Corps, and led implementations with FMAN on wheat and Bayer on vegetable value chains.

His expertise spans hub and crop centre establishment, farmer training, demonstration plot coordination, field monitoring, product management, and improving market access for smallholder farmers and agribusinesses. To date, he has successfully trained and supported over 11,000 farmers nationwide through initiatives promoting regenerative agriculture, good agronomic practices, and stronger market linkages. Gabriel is deeply committed to building inclusive and sustainable agricultural systems that enhance livelihoods, food security, and climate resilience in Africa.
